We offer Family Learning events which will enable parents/carers to find out about how their children learn in school, and give them ideas to support their child's learning at home. The events will be advertised on the Newsletter.

Throughout the year there are a number of events arranged for parents to come into school to work alongside their child. When these are organised during the school day, each child invites one adult family member to work with them on a range of activities to support particular areas of the curriculum. Over the past year, the school has offered a range of events supporting science, maths, phonics and reading in Key Stage 1 & 2. Each class participates in at least one learning event each term. Families in the Ladybirds (Reception) have regular Stay & Play sessions where adults and children can learn about the most fun ways to learn new skills through play - phonics, reading, maths, creative and themed sessions. We have recently had Space Camp, where families came to The Croft on the Heath in the evening, to find out about stargazing and toast marshmallows on the campfire!

Volunteers are often involved in the life of our school - helping walk to church, helping on school trips, listening to children read in school, helping with school events - all are very welcome. Our volunteers have to be DBS checked and go through an induction process to ensure their suitability to be in school. We currently have a reading army - parents/carers/grandparents - who come into school and listen to children read. The children love reading, and reading to different people develops their confidence!
